Project:

Global Debt Analytics System

Description:

Cosmic has successfully completed a $1.25 million project from Merrill Lynch, which include developing the Global Debt Analytics system providing price/yield and risk measures for the fixed income and derivatives traders and trading and accounting systems. This system is used by all Merrill Lynch locations including New York, London, Tokyo, and Singapore. The system has price/yield and risk measures for government and corporate bonds for about 40 sovereign countries, Brady bonds, Preferred stock, Swaps, Credit derivatives, and other exotic options. The system is implanted in C++ and has Java native interface (JNI) for the Java systems. It provides interfaces on all platforms, and the Excel and Applix interfaces for the traders.

IT Support of Program and Financial Management

Description:

Our prime contractor has been awarded a $15 million contract with the Federal Aviation Administration to provide IT support to the Office of NAS Program and Financial Management (ASD 300).

Since contract award, our partner has been issued four tasks totaling over $1 million, the majority of which supports ongoing maintenance and upgrades as necessary to an Oracle-based financial management support information system which stores critical financial data for FAA's Research, Engineering and Development (R,E&D) and a portion of the Operations budget.

Passport Desktop

Description:

Passport Desktop is a client-server application that provides a single source of financial and operational information for the Fund Managers and Portfolio Administrators. This information includes summary level and transaction details for Defined Portfolio and Exchange Traded Fund Accounts that are based on the fixed income securities such as corporate, treasury, and municipal bonds, and summary level information for Mutual fund holdings and Portfolio details. Passport Desktop application has easy navigation to financial details and offers features, which enable the fund managers to quickly and accurately perform their pricing and accounting processes. This application handles the pricing demands of the Unit Investment Trust and is being used by Equity administrators to do the daily pricing for internally evaluated funds.

Responsibilities:

  • Developed mid-tier ActiveX components (COM) for enhancements in business rules
  • Used ADO for accessing the Stored Procedures in Oracle and DB2. Used IBM DB2 Connect to bring in the data from DB2 Database
  • Developed Oracle stored procedures and Nested views for Crystal Reports
  • Created data mapping for exchanging data between different databases
  • Used FarPoint Spreadsheet (fpSpread control), Sheridan third party controls for the user interface, and WIN API's to perform FTP file transfers
  • Developed reports to provide evaluations to the sponsors, and allow the user to save data in Excel files for additional manipulations or transmission to a client

  • Extensively used VBA in Excel to create reports bringing latest Fund Pricing information from Reuters Machine

Description:

This is a data warehousing system which forecasts the client Information about A/C, Debit, Credit, Trial Balance, Loan Information and interest Details, organizes and tabulates statistical information of customers for the specified period of time and tracks bank defaulters and prompts information to the MIS.

Role:

  • Interacting with the Business analyst to understand the business requirements, user types and expectations

AIGCredit.com

Description:

American Insurance Group (AIG) is one of the largest insurance companies in the world.

AIG TradeCredit.com is a web-based credit and risk management tool that combines comprehensive credit insurance coverage with real-time access to the credit information of the customers. This tool is mainly for middle markets to assess and monitor the buying power of buyers. The users for this site are sellers, brokers & marketplaces.

AIG TradeCredit.com offers the following on-line features:

  • Real-time assessment of buyers' ability to pay for the goods
  • Ongoing monitoring of changes in buyers' financial condition
  • Credit insurance protection to secure balance sheet against bad debts Debt collections

Role:

Designed the project on MVC pattern (MODEL, VIEW, CONTROLLER), where' VIEW' is the jsp pages (UI), servlets are used as controllers to control the flow of the system and the java objects are used as Model.

Implemented the 'model' using the EJB architecture (entity and session beans). Entity classes are java objects, which encapsulate a row in a table. These objects can navigate from one to another. Assistant classes mainly represent the session's beans functionality i.e the business rules.

The buyer's information can be uploaded, or sent as XML documents for further processing at the back end. Policy versioning is implemented. PDF documents are generated for policy and quotes using the Python. Turbine is used for connection pooling and scheduled jobs.
